Happy Birthday, Artist Mindset!

Dang, I can’t believe a year ago today I was sitting in the same spot, wondering what I should make my first ever post about.

Well, not exactly the same place.

This last year has been out of control awesome, but also pretty out of control crappy. When I started last year, I was leery about starting a blog because I knew I’d probably forget about it. Some months have been better here than others, and I don’t blog as often as I’d like to, but this blog has been an amazing experience. Because of it, I learned about NaNoWriMo (it’s coming again, kids), met other hopeful writers, other successful writers, other just awesome people. My writing skills have enhanced, and it’s gotten me into a habit of writing, which has helped me with my most recent draft of my novel, Immortality Awaits.

A year never seems like a lot when you’re experiencing it, but when you pause to reflect on it, oftentimes you realize how much you’ve learned and grown. A year ago I was working at Chili’s, now I’ve stepped up my game into fine dining at the Chart House. I’ve finished a draft of my novel I’m actually proud (and confident) of. I moved out of the house I hated where the upstairs neighbors were abusing their kids and the cops did nothing. I’ve gotten all of my tattoos minus one. All things I took for granted during the experience, but reflection has made me learn to love.

Immortality Awaits ProofThanks to everyone who’s read and followed the blog. I’m pretty sure I did a thank you post not too long ago, so I won’t get too into that. But I promise I’ll get back into blogging more like I did when I first started, as this is only my second post of the month. The whole “getting a proof copy of your book that you actually like vs. the one you already have that was only used for editing purposes” thing has distracted me.
